Confessions of a Shopaholic

Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella was a wonderful book. I like the feeling that Rebbecca Bloomwood is a real person with a real debt problem. She tries different kinds of tactics ending with putting all her bills in a drawer and forgetting about them. Ironically, she ends up advising people on their own fiances through her job and a surprise in the end. My favorite scene in the book is the one when Rebbecca gets a job at a clothing store. She actually tries to hide some pants that she wanted to buy from a customer, ending up getting fired on her first day. All in all, the book was cute and funny with a little romance which you know I love.

As you probably have seen from the commercials, the movie is coming to theaters tomorrow. I think that Isla Fisher is the perfect actress for Rebbecca. She has a kind of innocent look about her that fits what Sophia Kinsella put in the book. On the other hand, I don't really like the actor chosen to play Rebbecca's love interest Luke, Hugh Dancy. I think he's cute but I don't really like the way he acts. I imagine Luke to be... different. lol. Of course, my personal opinion doesn't really matter. But hey, I get to watch if for free. hehe. That's the one and only perk of my job: free movie tickets.

Anyway, I will definitely tell you what I think after I've seen it. Oh, and Sophie Kinsella's other books that I have read are good as well: Can You Keep a Secret and Remember Me.

More Distractions

I have found discovered a new thing to distract me from my school work.

Yeah. My brother got it for his xbox 360. I don't even like video games because I'm completely uncoordinated and can't handle them. But this one is a complete button masher. I just can press anything and not lose all the time. And it's strangely addictive, this odd fighting game. There's even a yoda, you know, from Star Wars. I think he looks pretty odd fighting characters like the one in the picture, Tira. She's my current favorite. I like her hoola hoop sword of doom. Yeah. I think I'm becoming a dork. Or the dork is coming out of me.

One of my favorite things about the game is the feature where you can create your own character. People have made Batman vs. Joker, Spiderman vs. Iron Man, and many others. I personally just made a female fighter who looked like a princess. Nothing too special. But the downside to making her look pretty was that she had no armor. So basically she sucked. Figures.

Anyway, this game is too addicting for someone who sucks at it. I've gotten to the point now where I can button mash smartly. Yes, its possible. Before, I would just press any ol' thing at any ol' time. But now, I make sure my character is facing the correct direction (very important :]) and I realized recently you can press more than one button at once and get combos. So I'm improving on the game as my Pre-Cal and Creative Writing homework are left untouched.

*sigh*

It's going to be a long weekend.

Why I felt like a 13 year old boy...

I went to Hooters Tuesday with Everett (mi novio) and several of our friends. I've never been, and I was expecting naked ladies swinging of poles and shaking their booty but was pleasantly surprise. There weren't even any poles. ;)

But seriously, those girls have really big boobies. I couldn't help staring. After Everett told me about the boob test. You know, the one where you have walk up to a wall and if your boobs touch before your nose, you're as good as hired. It also didn't help that these women know their boobs are larger than the average female and thrust them out every chance then get.

Ok. I might be exaggerating a little bit.

It also didn't help that my friend Jared said that the girls flash you when you walk in the door. They don't of course. Well, the didn't for us.

All that aside, the food was tasty. We tried the Buffalo Shrimp as an appetizer which was very good. It could have been a little spicier but Andrea (my friend, not me) wanted it to be mild. Me and Everett shared some wings and ate some of Jared's fries. All in all, the meal was very good.

The only negative thing I can say about this particular Hooters is that the bathroom was disgusting. The first stall's toilet was full to overflowing with things I don't want to talk about. The second stall was the cleanest, yet, it didn't have a toilet. Seriously.
I still haven't figured out the purpose of this stall. The closest thing I can think of is changing room? Anyway, the third stall was equally disgusting as the first except this toilet did overflow and everything was on the ground. Yuck.

And now that I know what to expect, I want to go again. I will just make sure to use the bathroom elsewhere.

la la la!

I love to sing. It's one of my favorite hobbies. My outlet is singing on the church worship team, usually as back up vocals but occasionally I get to sing a solo. For the youth, I sing twice a month. In the regular service, I sing when they ask which is not often. I also have made some youtube videos but that's recent.

My personal opinion on my singing is that I do it for fun. I'm not showing off or hoping to make it big one day. Just singing for fun.

Lately, many people who have heard me sing have approached me and complemented me on my singing. I always surprise them with the answer to their question about who's my teacher: ME! I teach myself to sing. I've always wanted lessons before but never could afford them. Especially if I just want them for fun. Seems like a waste of time for me.

But my mother's boyfriend, after he heard me singing Time to Say Goodbye on youtube, encouraged me to get lessons. So my mother obliged him... and me!

Tonight will be my second lesson with Catherine. She is amazing and I love her and now I want to sing forever! I enjoy singing more. I enjoy life more. I'm even starting to think about taking it more seriously. All from one lesson!

Wish me luck!

No wonder marriage now-a-days is a joke!

With a wedding like this one, no it should be a surprise how short-lived most marriages are in today’s society.

Really?

Taco Bell?

I think it’s a plan for disaster.

What do you think?

I Won!!!

After being depressed about not winning the talent show, I entered a contest one of the blogs that I follow iLash Girls.

I didn't even mean to win. I didn't even read the background information on the giveaway items until I found out that I won.

Anyways, I won some awesome note cards and a really pretty calender. I love them!

Yay me!

This blog has lots of giveaways so you should check them out!

Trying New Things

I don't like country music. Never have. All those strong country accents singing songs about rusty trucks, favorite dogs, and loser boyfriends just isn't my cup of tea.

So why is it that when I heard Love Story by Taylor Swift I fell in love with her and the song.

Taylor Swift is really a talented artist and I highly respect her. She's beautiful. Her voice is beautiful. She's just a likable person.

I might have another girl crush...

I just got her new CD (it was released in November): Fearless. She totally stole this title from me. I was going to name my first album Fearless. *sigh* Guess I have to let her have this one.

Anyway, I like her music because it's somewhat innocent and it doesn't have an overpowering country accent. My favorite song is Beautiful Eyes which, by the way, is not on the CD; I had to get it separately. Totally worth it.

I encourage you to give it a try. You might be surprised how much you like it.

Happy New Year!!!

Yay! It's 2009!

As you know, on New Years Eve I competed in the second annual talent show at my church. Unfortunately, I didn't win. I got beat by a little six or seven year old boy who killed it with his hoola hoop. He was so cute! After his performance, I leaned over to my boyfriend and said that if anyone was to beat me, it has to be him.

Also, I'm pretty sure I got second place. Now I don't have any proof of my singing because my wonderful bofo forgot to video tape my performance. He claimed that because I was so nervous (and I was), he forgot to tape it. I got all dressed up and sang Ave Maria and I don't have any evidence. I don't even have a camera so no pictures either. *sigh*

Anyway, the entire show was completely different this year. The audience voted instead of judges. Which is cool. But the host guy basically told everyone not to vote for me because I won last year. I didn't care for that too much. I mean, I want other people to have a chance as well but he didn't have to tell everyone not to vote for me just because I won last year. I'm pretty sure I got second place even though they didn't announce it.

Whatever.

Despite all of that, I had a amazing new year celebration with my boyfriend and his family. I've been sick since then so I haven't been doing much of anything. School starts back up tomorrow so I will be back to normal posting.

Here are some things I have to look forward to in 2009:
1. applying to my next college
2. the ridiculous custody battle over my brother
3. voice lessons promised by my mother's new boyfriend
4. volunteering in my alumni high school's library
5. working, loads of working.

What are you looking forward to (or not) this year?
